So, you just began the journey of seeking potential vendors to capture your wedding day! You found your dream venue, the perfect dress, a sleek limoscene, the best-tasting cake in your town, the hair and makeup artist and your photographer! You only have one more vendor on the list….your wedding video team!
The challenge is….you don’t know where to start! Unsure of who to trust, you ask your friends who they used for their wedding, you search Facebook, Instagram, WeddingWire, the Knot! You hear a thousand answers that ultimately wind up leaving you right where you started...confused, frustrated and debating if it is important to even have a wedding video team.
Let me tell you….it is!
Whether you choose us or not, we want to make things easier for you by sharing a little of what we learned from our experiences. First, let’s start by looking at the different types of wedding video companies out there.
Quantity companies: These are large-scale companies who provide both photo and video services in their bookings, servicing countless weddings per year. The style of their videos is most likely a somewhat strict formula to produce a standard and basic wedding video. The company usually sends out one of their many outsourced videographers. They have remarkably low prices, which may be reflected in their work. This type of company is perfect for people with a tight budget. But buyer beware…you usually get what you pay for.
The Novice: These videographers are most likely freelancers just starting out in the field with little to no experience. Because this industry is highly competitive, they may be seeking refuge in the wedding business to get their feet wet. They might not have any experience dealing with the business side of things, such as booking, customer care, professionalism and reliability. But everyone, even us, started somewhere! Again, this may be the best option financially, but just be cautious and open to being a part of their learning experience.
Boutique Companies: These companies usually have numerous successful and happy clients. They have the proper liability and equipment insurance, licenses and business address. A dedicated manager is assigned to the project who has excellent customer service skills and experience to answer all of your questions about your big day. Because of their experience in the field, they are usually aware of their limits and confident in their process, equipping them to provide a luxurious and quality experience. Unlike the “quantity companies,” boutiques pride themselves on their unique style and product, bringing a freshness to each video. These companies tend to be higher in price but also higher in quality.
You have to remember, when it comes to hiring a video team, you want to make sure you hire a team that will make you feel comfortable and taken care of. We believe having the right team can positively impact your day, thus turning ordinary memories into extraordinary! Your wedding video is a long-term investment centered around your love. Marriage is a sacred union that happens once between two people, so it’s important to capture it perfectly.
Our advice is to you is….protect yourself by investing in the best. It may cost a little more, but the peace of mind knowing your day is captured with care will make it all worth it!
